Every student has the same goal: to learn, to grow, and to succeed. However, every learner is different and may choose their own unique path to achieving that goal. At IHS, we offer students the choice of learning in a way best suited to their individual needs, objectives, and learning preferences.
From preschool to Class 10, we follow the ICSE curriculum.
Students in Class 6 and beyond can choose the globally recognized IGCSE curriculum prescribed by Cambridge Assessment International Education.
IHS has been affiliated with CISCE since 1987, India’s premier educational board dedicated to providing high-quality education, fostering a humane and just society, and promoting excellence through exciting learning opportunities.
IHS has been affiliated with CAIE since 2012, offering world-class qualifications and educational programs that inspire lifelong learning and empower students to fulfill their potential with confidence.
We are dedicated to creating a stress-free atmosphere that is conducive to physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional development. Students are encouraged to learn through their own experience, and at their own pace. The Preschool environment at IHS is joyful, purposeful, and engaging..
In the Nursery year, we work towards developing spatial awareness, gross and fine motor skills, and personal and social skills while introducing young learners to phonics and math concepts through games. In our Jr.KG and Sr.KG Classes, we expand on the Nursery foundations as students learn to write, read, and develop basic mathematical skills through hands-on activities.
The program aims to broaden their knowledge on core subjects, while striking a healthy balance between a warm, friendly environment and a structured, formal curriculum. We follow a student-centric, hands-on approach to learning, which, when paired with a no-homework policy, makes learning meaningful, joyful and stress-free.
We focus on introducing our young learners to the 4C’s (critical thinking, creativity, communication and collaboration), essential 21st century skills that we blend seamlessly into the curriculum. Fun, interactive, and immersive lesson plans are designed to satiate curious minds and encourage exploration of new ideas. We offer customized, supported learning programs for students who need additional guidance to succeed.
The well-structured curriculum takes a systematic, pre-planned path to specific learning outcomes. Students are encouraged to take a fact-based approach, learning and excelling under the guidance of well-trained faculty. Predefined conceptual units ensure that a clear understanding of basic concepts is achieved before moving on to each higher-level.
The IGCSE curriculum is based on the idea that teachers are facilitators, while students are not just learners but active participants, observers, and researchers who take charge of their own learning. Initially, the teacher leads the learning process, which is later taken over by the learner. Students not only learn independently, but also from their peers through discussion, dialogue and sharing of information and ideas.
High-schoolers are encouraged to be self-reliant. Under the supervision of faculty, they are expected to take responsibility for their own learning by independently managing timely submission of assignments and completion of allotted work. Periodic tests and examinations require a planned pattern of study that helps students learn how to be systematic. Collaboration skills are inculcated through peer learning, project-based learning, group discussions and presentation.
As an international curriculum, the IGCSE program exposes students to varied cultures and schools of thought via clearly defined learning outcomes and content. Independent study is facilitated via research, presentations, assignments, and collaborative activities.

Cultural and literary activities are an integral part of school life at IHS. We do not view such activities as “extra-curricular;” they are integral to learning. These co-curricular activities are therefore built into the curriculum to ensure 360° learning and all-round development of our students.Co-curricular activities include:
Studies show that active kids do better in school. At IHS, curriculum-based sport education is provided at all levels, including our preschool, by trained professionals. Our in-house structured sports program focuses on inculcating age-appropriate motor skills as well as important concepts such as teamwork; form and posture; and game-specific rules, techniques and etiquette. We offer daily PE for preschoolers, and a minimum of three physical education classes each week for other classes. Our basketball court is always in use, and generations of alumni return each year to participate in the Inter-batch Alumni Basketball Playoffs.
We are committed to cultivating environmental awareness in school by teaching our students about the three Rs: reduce waste, reuse resources, and recycle materials.
Each year, our students take up specific environmental causes like declining sparrow populations in the city, save-the-tiger, and eco-friendly celebrations, initiating measures to create awareness.
Our building features spacious classrooms with Smart screens for 21st-century learning. A Learning Lab, computer labs, and science laboratories provide hands-on experience. Preschoolers have dedicated play areas, while Classes 1-10 use the basketball court and field for sports. A 4000 sq.ft. auditorium hosts programs and workshops. Our library encourages reading and research. The annex includes a counseling room, music room, and infirmary.
Innisfree House School ensures safe transportation with a fully-equipped bus fleet, complying with safety regulations. Our buses have mandated signage, GPS, fire extinguishers, CCTV cameras, first-aid kits, and speed governors. Our transport team follows structured emergency policies, and our drivers and attendants are police-verified. Bus routes cover key areas of South Bangalore.
Classrooms from Class 1 to 10 feature plasma SmartScreens for advanced audio/visual learning. Four firewall-protected computer labs with 125 systems offer hands-on experience in web design, computer ethics, and software like Python and Dreamweaver. Staff rooms are equipped with chrome books. Our school office operates digitally with a ‘no paper’ policy. Communication with parents is exclusively through our school portal and the UOLO messaging app.
From modeling polite and courteous behavior to an insistence on punctuality to championing restorative justice approaches or rewarding honesty, we focus on creating a strong attitudinal foundation. Our students learn to communicate their thoughts and feelings openly, be courageous, speak their own truth and stand up for what they think is right, even in the face of resistance or adversity. A range of initiatives actively encourage them to be kind and responsible, thinking beyond themselves and treating one another with fairness, respect and understanding.
Innisfree House School was established in 1985.
The child should have completed at least 3 years as of May 31st, of the relevant year for admission to our Nursery
We believe that students benefit academically and emotionally with greater attention from teachers. Our in-class ratio student:teacher ratio stands at a maximum of 28:1.We have more than 700 students on our roll, and the school-wise ratio of students to staff members is 1:10
Although we do not claim to be a Montessori school, we integrate the best of the Montessori Playway method and the traditional 3Rs (Reading, Writing and Arithmetic). Our Montessori-based activity centres, led by trained Montessori teachers, help young children learn via hands-on activities that complement a traditional classroom experience.Children learn at their own pace in a caring, supportive and stress-free environment.
Regular, curriculum-based sport education is provided at all levels, including our preschool, by trained professionals. We offer coaching in cricket, volleyball and basket ball to students selected for the school teams.
All information regarding fees is contained in the registration form which may be obtained either online from our school website, or from the school office on payment of Rs. 100 only.
Unfortunately, we do not offer fee concessions for siblings of students who are already enrolled.
Any brand of black sports shoes may be purchased from a store of your choice. We recommend selecting shoes that offer proper arch support. Preschool students are required to purchase shoes with a velcro strap.
For students up to Class 8, we do offer the chance to retain a seat for up to one full academic year by paying the entire fee for that year in advance.
Yes, we own our own fleet of buses, and our coverage area includes most of South Bangalore. Please contact the school office for details on specific bus routes and transport fees.
At present, we do not offer a foreign language in the IGCSE stream.
The school has consistently maintained a high level of performance across 30+ years in both the ICSE and the IGCSE examinations.

No, Innisfree House School does not have any branches, it’s a stand alone school.
Yes, we do offer a host of activities which help our learners equip themselves with the necessary 21st-century skills.
It is natural for a child to feel scared and nervous at being away from parents and adapt to a new environment.

Communication from school will be from either of the following:
You will get a monthly preschool newsletter to update you on activities and lessons conducted during the month.
To give us any information, or for any queries to be addressed, send a email.

Note:
Our policy has always been to keep the burden of schoolbags as minimal as possible. All their books/worksheets will be kept at school and sent home only at the end of the academic year. Stationery items such as pencils and erasers will be provided by the school, except for the children of Sr.KG.
However, students are expected to carry:
Note:
Please label all your child’s belongings to avoid misplacement.
The school has an infirmary with a qualified nurse to attend to such children immediately and administer first aid. We will inform you about such incidents and measures taken through our online portal.
However, in emergencies like major injuries or a severe medical condition that develops at school, your child will be taken to a nearby hospital accompanied by a staff member. You will again be kept informed about this, and our staff will wait there for your child until you arrive to take over.
Absolutely. While runny nose, headaches, and colds are regular complaints that don’t require medical attention, we do not expect you to send your child to school during other conditions like fever, breathing difficulty, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, vomiting, and infections that need to be dealt with at home or hospital.
Keep the school informed via the online portal about such absences. A medical certificate will be required once your child is fit to resume school.
Preschool:
The meeting will be conducted on any Saturday of a month between 9:00am ad 12:30pm.
In the event of you arriving late, we regret our inability to hold your slot or allot you another one considering the other waiting parents.
If the fourth Saturday is a public holiday, we will inform you in advance about the next convenient date for the meeting.
Other classes:
Parents are expected to attend the mandatory academic meeting (PTM), either online or on-campus, that follows each test and examination. If you wish, you may meet the subject teachers, on-campus, on the last Friday of every working month between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
There are adequate, separate, and well-maintained washrooms for boys and girls.
A domestic staff member is always deployed near washrooms to monitor the washroom visits and assist children.
At IHS, we do not believe in compartmentalizing learning into ‘classwork’ and ‘homework’. We view all academics-related tasks as learning, regardless of where these tasks are performed. Your child will therefore occasionally receive simple home-based assignments to reinforce the idea that learning can happen anywhere, and is not restricted to school alone.
Each month, we will post a maximum of 4 fun activities/assignments in Google Classroom. Your child will be given a week’s time to complete the activity/assignment and submit it online (this helps introduce young children to the idea that technology and devices are meant for more than just entertainment.)
If you miss the PTM and would want to know about their child’s performance, you may take an appointment for an meeting with the section head/ coordinator.
Children are encouraged to use the washroom mandatorily during snack breaks, and also whenever they feel the need, even during class hours.
They are always accompanied by a domestic staff member on such washroom visits.
Please refrain from using a diaper for your child at school. Instead, encourage him/her to communicate his/her toilet needs to the teachers or domestic staff members.
The school offers both ICSE and IGCSE curricula. Students study the ICSE curriculum up to class 5. They are offered a choice between ICSE and IGCSE curriculums at class 6.
Your child may celebrate his/her big day by dressing in coloured clothes and distributing chocolates, but this is not mandatory.
If you still wish to do so, we restrict the distribution of chocolates only to the students and class teacher of your child’s section.
Innisfree House School was established in 1985.
We do not offer foreign languages in either of the streams.
We are not a pure Montessori school. However, we have integrated the best practices from the Montessori methodology into our preschool curriculum to ensure joyful and hands-on learning.
In the ICSE stream, we teach Hindi (Preparatory-Class 7) and Kannada (Class 1-7). High school students (Class 8-10) may choose to continue with either one of these languages or switch to Sanskrit. In the IGCSE stream, we offer English as a First Language and Hindi as a Second Language.
You may obtain the registration form online from our school website, or from the school office on payment of Rs. 100 only.
We do not believe in interviewing students seeking admission to our school. Instead, we interact with students to check their developmental, emotional, and intellectual readiness for admission to a particular class. We also like to get a sense for parents’ goals and expectations so as to assess whether our school would provide the right fit for their child.
We don’t believe in rigorous preparation for these assessments. The purpose of the assessment is to evaluate your child’s English, Math, and Hindi competency levels to determine an appropriate academic starting point.
Once you have purchased a hard copy of the registration form at the school office, please fill it in and submit it with all the relevant documents as mentioned in the form.
Online Registrations
If you have chosen to purchase the registration form online:
After you have submitted all the necessary documents to us:
After the interaction/assessment, should we feel that our school is a good fit for your child, we will make an offer of admission. Once all formalities, including payment of fees, has been made, your child’s admission is confirmed.
