Every student has the same goal: to learn, to grow, and to succeed. However, it is not necessary that every student choose the same path to achieving that goal. At IHS, we offer students the choice of learning in a way best suited to their individual needs, objectives, and learning preferences.
From preschool to Class 10, we offer the curriculum prescribed by the Indian Council for Secondary Education (ICSE).
From Class 6 onwards, students may opt for the the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) curriculum prescribed by Cambridge Assessment International Education.
IHS has been affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) since the year 1987.
CISCE is India’s premier educational board, committed to serving the nation’s children through high quality educational endeavours, empowering them to contribute towards a humane, just and pluralistic society and promoting introspective living by creating exciting learning opportunities with a commitment to excellence.
IHS has been affiliated to the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) board since 2012.
CAIE prepares school students for life, helping them develop an informed curiosity and a lasting passion for learning. CAIE’s world-class qualifications, and education programmes give learners the confidence to demonstrate and fulfil their potential.
For many decades, education has focused on teaching students the 3R’s–reading, writing, and arithmetic, with an added layer of knowledge-based subjects like social studies and economics. Globally, there is a shift towards a greater emphasis on the 4C’s–communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking–in order to prepare students to thrive in the volatile, unpredictable, and fast-paced Information Age. We at IHS wholeheartedly believe in the 4C’s model.
We are dedicated to creating a stress-free atmosphere that is conducive to physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional development. Students are encouraged to learn through their own experience, and at their own pace. The Preschool environment at IHS is joyful, purposeful, and engaging.
In the Pre-nursery year, we work towards developing spatial awareness, gross and fine motor skills, and personal and social skills while introducing young learners to phonics and math concepts through games. In our Nursery and Preparatory Classes, we expand on the Pre-nursery foundations as students learn to write, read, and develop basic mathematical skills through hands-on activities.
The program aims to broaden their knowledge on core subjects, while striking a healthy balance between a warm, friendly environment and a structured, formal curriculum. We follow a student-centric, hands-on approach to learning, which, when paired with a no-homework policy, makes learning meaningful, joyful and stress-free.
We focus on introducing our young learners to the 4C’s (critical thinking, creativity, communication and collaboration), essential 21st century skills that we blend seamlessly into the curriculum. Fun, interactive, and immersive lesson plans are designed to satiate curious minds and encourage exploration of new ideas. We offer customized, supported learning programs for students who need additional guidance to succeed.
The well-structured curriculum takes a systematic, pre-planned path to specific learning outcomes. Students are encouraged to take a fact-based approach, learning and excelling under the guidance of well-trained faculty. Predefined conceptual units ensure that a clear understanding of basic concepts is achieved before moving on to each higher-level.
The IGCSE curriculum is based on the idea that teachers are facilitators, while students are not just learners but active participants, observers, and researchers who take charge of their own learning. Initially, the teacher leads the learning process, which is later taken over by the learner. Students not only learn independently, but also from their peers through discussion, dialogue and sharing of information and ideas.
High-schoolers are encouraged to be self-reliant. Under the supervision of faculty, they are expected to take responsibility for their own learning by independently managing timely submission of assignments and completion of allotted work. Periodic tests and examinations require a planned pattern of study that helps students learn how to be systematic. Collaboration skills are inculcated through peer learning, project-based learning, group discussions and presentation.
As an international curriculum, the IGCSE program exposes students to varied cultures and schools of thought via clearly defined learning outcomes and content. Independent study is facilitated via research, presentations, assignments, and collaborative activities.
